The Master Classes see three world-renowned Italian architects in conversation with three leading Chinese designers, offering the audience an insight into the hottest topics in the design industry in China and the world as a whole. 

Michele De Lucchi with Yung Ho Chang

The first Master Class is managed by the internationally renowned architect Michele De Lucchi. He carried out architectural projects in Italy and abroad, including residential, industrial and cultural buildings and corporate headquarters. He has designed lamps and furniture for the most known Italian and European companies. His professional work has always gone side-by-side with a personal exploration of design, technology and crafts. His projects are a perfect balance of tradition and avant-garde, ecologically aware and inviting reflection on today’s aesthetic and functional values.
Michele De Lucchi will be in conversation with Yung Ho Chang, Professor at MIT and Tonji University and Principal Architect of Atelier Feichang Jianzhu for his remarkable sensitivity towards local components. His distinctive trait is his deep focus on the relationship between architecture and city and between city and territory.

Stefano Boeri with Liu Yichun

Stefano Boeri, architect and urban planner, directs the second Master Class. Full Professor at Politecnico in Milan and visiting professor at various international universities, he is Director of the Future City Lab at Tongji University in Shanghai.
Stefano Boeri Architetti’s work ranges from the production of urban visions and architectures to the interior design, with special attention to environmental quality in contemporary cities. He will be talking to Liu Yichun, co-founder of Atelier Deshaus. Liu’s works have been widely presented in many international architectural and artistic exhibitions. Atelier Deshaus’ works are pursuing a sort of integrity and control over details and qualities, moreover, based on holistic perception, they root themselves between Chinese tradition and current environment of society, economy and culture.

Roberto Palomba with Fu Rong Chen
November 24th, 10:30am - 12:00pm


Protagonist of the third Master Class is Roberto Palomba, co-founder with his wife Ludovica Serafini of the studio Palomba + Serafini Associati. 
They have a philosophical approach: the search for essence in every project, closer to the concept of balance, the goal of their work is not only an aesthetic result but the well-being.
Their research has mostly focused on industrial molds and serial production, for a more democratic vision, but they also look for the artisan tradition that can preserve the culture of Italian knowledge making.
He will be in conversation with Fu Rong Chen, founder of furniture brand WUU. Chen dedicated to developing contemporary furniture, lighting and accessories, while continuing to participating in art and design projects.
